In their latest TT Talk post ‘Tools of the container trade’, TT Club have chosen to include the BoxTech database as a feature piece.
“Another interesting development has been the launch in July 2016 of the BoxTech Technical Characteristics Database by Bureau International des Containers (BIC). It is reported that the database now holds the details of some three million containers and is accessed by over 700 shipper users. It may be expected that these numbers will continue to grow rapidly, with at least 120 container owners/operators now engaged in loading unit information.”
The article introduces the BoxTech TCD as a “Simple to use” database providing “fast, automated access to reliable data” that “will continue to grow rapidly, with at least 120 container owners/operators now engaged in loading unit information.”. It then delves into the future of containerisation and talks about the digitisation of the supply chain, writing that “It would be conceivable that the concatenation of such technologies and this database could enrich the understanding of the history for each container.” The article ends with a congratulations on the creation of the BoxTech database.
We would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to the TT Club for their article, available to read here: https://www.ttclub.com/loss-prevention/tt-talk/article/tt-talk-tools-of-the-container-trade-137665/
