BoxTech v2 launched

The BIC is pleased to announce that BoxTech v2 is now live. The new version includes significant enhancements, many of which were based on suggestions from carriers and leasing companies that have uploaded their fleets to the platform.

Sold/scrapped containers

BoxTech now allows owner/operators to flag containers once they have been sold or scrapped. Once this is done, anyone querying such containers will be alerted that they no longer belong to the original owners. This will help all parties ensure that these containers are not accidentally treated as liner containers, and that containers are properly marked and inspected if further shipment is planned.

Recoveries and other exception alerts

Equipment owners and operators are now able to flag containers with exception alerts, such as recovery situations. This feature will be particularly beneficial in the event of a bankruptcy situation requiring the recovery of units. Units flagged for recovery will carry specific instructions and contact information. These exception alerts will work for both users accessing the information manually as well as those using BoxTech’s system-to-system API integrations. In the case of API integrations, users will also be able to receive alerts via e-mail.

File upload improvements

Significant improvements to the file upload process and infrastructure have been implemented in v2. A “My File Uploads” screen now shows owners/operators their most recent uploads. In addition, details of each upload, including the uploaded file and results, are now archived in BoxTech and can be retrieved either from the “My File Uploads” screen or the original results email. Finally, new status emails notify the user when a file is received and when it has been processed, with details of success and errors included.

New v2 API

The v2 API is a major update making available a RESTful JSON-formatted web service for both fleet upload and container information access. Detailed documentation for the updated UI is available at on GitHub: https://github.com/bic-boxtech/BIC-BoxTech-API-Samples  Container owners/operators can now create, update and fleet-out containers, all via API, thus ensuring that BoxTech is always up-to-date with their complete fleet. Finally, BoxTech users can now access the full details held for each container using an API.
